For many people fuel and energy costs during the winter can be prohibitively expensive. Many people pay hundreds of dollars a month just to keep their homes heated during the winter months. If energy bills are killing you each winter there are quite a few things that you can do to lessen their blow. Here are a few tips.

Cut down on drafts. If you have a door or window or cracks in your house that are letting in the cold air, these drafts can be costing you big money each year. It is relatively easy to cut down on drafts. Make sure that you cork windows. If your surrounding molding on the window is poor, look to replace the molding or the entire window. If you don’t have the budget, cover up the window with a transparent covering and strong tape.

Doorscan be difficult to cover up as well, if you can’t replace the door immediately, look into buying a storm door or a door sock. A door sock is just a towel or other barrier that rests on the bottom of the door and blocks the cold air from entering.

If you have wood floors, you might look into carpeting the floors or adding a rugin the coldest spots. Not only will this insulate the floor, but keep your feet warmer as you walk around the house. So follow these quick tips to lower your energy costs during the winter.
