Web Designing
Web design is the art and process of creating a single web page or entire websites and primarily focuses on the look and feel of the website. It may also involve working on the aesthetics and the mechanics of a website's operation too.
Some of the aspects that may be included in web designing are graphics, animation, color, font, navigation design, content creation, HTML/XML authoring, JavaScript programming, and ecommerce.
Tim Berners- Lee the inventor of the World Wide Web published a website in 1991, making him the first web designer, and the first to use hypertext with an existing email link.
Earlier, websites were written in basic HTML, a markup language giving websites basic structure, and the ability to link using hypertext. This was new and different to existing forms of communication, where users could easily open other pages using browsers.
Today, the basic web designing on most pages include, HTML, CSS, and the newest form of language, XHTML. Many sites today also integrate various forms of dynamic, interactive content using E-Commerce, and server-side languages such as PHP and ASP.
The introduction of Adobe Flash into web designing has further changed the face of the web, giving more scope to designers and media creators, and offering new interactivity features to users.
Each web page within a web site is an HTML file which has its own URL. After web designing every page, they are typically linked together using a navigation menu composed of hyperlinks. Faster browsing speeds have led to shorter attention spans and more demanding online visitors, and this has resulted in less use of splash pages, in commercial websites. There are many aspects to web designing, and it is dependant on the topic and content. The content and information on the webpage should be relevant to the site. Web designing must ensure that the site is user-friendly, with the interface and navigation simple and reliable. The appearance is vital in web designing and should include a single style that flows throughout, to show consistency. The visibility of the site's text and information should be given priority, since that is what attracts the users or browsers, and is a major aspect of web designing. The site must also have a strong listing among major search engines, making it easy to locate on the internet. Web designing is a creative process of designing pages, and includes understanding the site objectives and designing a site to enhance that message.
