Sports memorabilia as an industry is massive. You can’t get through a full day without seeing somebody wearing a replica shirt or jersey, or hearing of a major sports club telling of their plans to sign a new addition to their team. In the case of most major sports teams, they are now a brand, and have come to learn that sales of their own lines of sports fan clothing and sports memorabilia are big business and plan a massive role in their financial success and revenue. In this day and age, it’s highly unlikely that the sports team you follow would enjoy the same levels of success they currently do (or in the case of some teams, perhaps have done!), without sports authenticated memorabilia being available to the masses. Whether it’s indoors or outdoors, there’s no denying that the range of athletic sports footwear available offers something for everyone. The days of global names such as Adidas, Nike and Reebok offering just a small range of athletic sports footwear have long gone, and today consumers can choose from a massive selection of products. It’s not just athletic sports footwear where these companies have enjoyed massive success. After all, why get the right footwear and do without athletic sports clothes? Again, the choices are vast, and ensure that every person’s need is catered to. Over time, sports athletic clothing has become more and more about fashion than just about the sporting and athletic benefits. But while many sporting brands have benefitted from those who have bought items as a fashion statement, there’s no doubting that the success of these companies continues as a result of it’s “grass roots”. Demand for gymnastics equipment and gymnastics clothes has grown in recent years. No doubt spurred on by the many celebrity keep-fit DVD’s currently on the market, there is a plethora of related goods available throughout the market. Similarly, a rise in media awareness in outdoor sports in recent years has led to an increased demand for climbing equipment, as the era of “extreme sports” takes over from the more traditional outdoor activities such as archery, which has led to a slip in the sales of archery gear and archery equipment.
